5 out of 5 stars Excellent source   July 26, 2010
Sara Ingram (Tennessee)
Excellent source of information about the mind of men. This book is mainly geared toward people who are single or in a new relationship. However, my husband and I both read it and used it as a foundation for topics of discussion about our relationship and men/women in general.

There were several points my husband and I both did not really agree with Harvey on. (But, you will find that in any book like this one.) For example, we both thought Harvey made it seem like cheating was okay and then would bring God into. Like, "A good man goes to church with his family. God is the basis for morals and makes you a better person. But, oh, you cheated? Oh well. Your wife will either leave you or stay with you. It's her fault for not giving you 'the cookie' (as he called it)" Just read the book to draw conclusions for yourself.

I do love the way Harvey wrote the book. I felt like he could've easily been sitting at my kitchen table talking to us. It was a laid back writing style, yet still formal enough.

Excellence book, highly recommend it to all women. It enlightened me on how men really think about a relationship. Only wish I had that knowledge before my first marriage. However there were a few things I totally disagree upon... but overall I felt it would educate women on relationship. It's all in how he introduces you to his friends and family, that really stuck in my head...simply because I've experience that.

5 out of 5 stars great for men and women   July 10, 2010

Wished I had read this before my first marriage!! I sent this book on to my 27 yr. old son before he gets in a serious relationship.

I picked this up on impluse at Walmart, there is nothing in this book that makes sense. Mr. Harvey seems to have written this book to imply that a woman who is dating is doing so to find a man to take care of her (and her children, if she has some) and that you immediately weed them out by insisting they do so.

Mr. Harvey encourages women with children to introduce the kids to a man you are dating right upfront to ensure he is willing to take care of your children? (um, kids get confused when you introduce them to every Tom, Dick and Harry you happen to date) How about dating for a while to make sure YOU like him and it will be a long term, committed relationship?

Mr. Harvey also suggests that men can not and will not go without sex for too long, however, also suggests women do not 'give it up' too early while dating, leaving me to safely assume that a man I am dating for two weeks, if I am not sleeping with him, then someone else is.

All in all, the general boys will be boys theme coupled with the advice to basically be a demanding bitch doesn't mesh well.

It may work on the stage for some laughs but in real life I fear you will be the laughing stock if you take this advice.

5 out of 5 stars BEST relationship book ever written! NO JOKES ABOUT THAT!   June 24, 2010

First off, I'm not a big fan of the 'relationship' or 'dating' book. I get bored with them, most of the time I take what is meant to be serious as funny. This book is funny when it needs to be, very light to read and VERY ACCURATE. My boyfriend, who is a true 'manly man' even agrees that Steve Harvey has hit it on the head! I can honestly relate to most of this book as I feel most women can! Steve Harvey tells it like it is and tells it how it should be. It's a must read for ALL WOMEN! By the time I was half way into the book I had a list of 9 women who were insistant on borrowing it next. So far, I'm not the only one who feels this way about this! It's an office hit with the ladies FOR SURE! THANKS STEVE!! :)
