I'd been eating vegetarian since childhood and was getting really tired of vegetarian recipes that relied heavily on eggs and dairy ingredients. Veganomicon blew my culinary mind wide open (and I lost 3 pounds without even trying). I have never eaten such colorful, delicious, unique food. This book has shown me how to cook some yummy go-to dinners, and has given me the confidence to experiment a lot more than I used to. If you want to go to the farmer's market and bring home whatever veggies look good, go right ahead because this book probably has an awesome recipe for them, and if not, it will at least tell you how to oven roast them and give you a couple ideas for side dishes.

No matter what your eating practices currently are, this book will give you great new ideas to incorporate, and the chocolate-raspberry cookie recipe is worth the price of the book. I've owned the book for over a year and I still refer to it regularly and find new recipes inside that I didn't notice before.

My only complaint is that there seem to be a lot of typos, but I'm just picky about that sort of thing.

I got this book when I first became vegan so I could learn some new things. I wasn't much of a cook but this book taught me most of the cooking basics, and did so in an entertaining manner. The recipes are delicious. I impress my non-vegan family and friends regularly. The Seitan Piccata is one of the best things I've ever eaten. The only downfall is the name. I refuse to say it aloud because it creeps me out.

I loved this book, my husband and I grow our own vegetables during the summer, and have been taking advantage of the recipes.

I've tried several recipes with great results. I just got done making the pineapple-cashew-quinoa stir fry and I can't get over how flavorful it was. A restaurant quality dish, for sure! I didn't have enough regular fresh basil that the recipe called for, but I did have a jar of thai basil. I combined them and it turned out just fine. Also because I'm trying to cut out oil in my cooking I used their suggestions in the beginning of the book and used veg broth to start the stir fry; no problems whatsoever. I also tried the spicy tempeh nori rolls. Everything was fine, except for the tempeh itself. But I've come to the conclusion that I'm just not a big fan of the taste or mouthfeel of tempeh. I've tried out several recipes from other cookbook authors and the results have been pretty much the same. If you happen to like it, you'll like the recipe. Next things I'm going to try are the eggplant-potato moussaka with pine nut sauce and the tofu florentine.

The book is very fun and easy to read, well organized and doesn't seem too overly fussy; just dee-lish. They have provided me a way to eat in a very healthy, hearty manner without feeling deprived or bored. With their track record, I don't have any hesitation trying a new ingredient out (hello nooch!).

The book starts off with great instructions for those who need to learn how to stock up their pantry as well as basic cooking techniques for different sundries like pasta, beans and rice.

After that you get a slew of rockin recipies to tempt even the biggest meat eater. From appetizers to full meals, so far I personally have not found a recipe that I did not like.

This book can help people to introduce more healthy side dishes to any meal. You may not turn into a vegan, or it may be a slow conversion, but having more veggie dishes that taste delicious can never go wrong.
