BEST TEA BOOK ON THE MARKET August 12, 2010 Kristin Sanders (Detroit area, Michigan, USA) Besides trusting anything Harney and Sons does, this book is the best. It is easy to read and understand, is NOT snobby, it is NOT written for the Upper Class, and it is entertaining. Please save your money and do not buy any other book on tea before you buy this one.
I am a tea room owner, so trust me on this!
Don't really care for this one. April 18, 2010 J. Donne (Florida) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have read several books about fine teas and tea drinking. I don't like this one for several reasons: It is written like a sales brochure for the author's company since it features only teas they sell. It is divided into suggested tea tasting sections seeming to steer the reader into ordering multiple teas for each tasting from Harney & Sons. I noticed a rather serious error in which the author described white tea as containing the highest caffeine when it actually has the lowest. Finally, I noticed several paragraphs that appeared to have been paraphrased from another well-known tea book. Overall, not one of the better books on the subject, in my opinion.
Great way to learn about tea March 5, 2010 HACCP Auditor (Michigan) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is the first tea book I have found that teaches you how to taste and compare the tea. I have a couple of books that describe teas, their properties and where & how they are grown, but this book also offers a practical application of the knowledge gained. Well done.
Basic tea August 11, 2009 Darlene C. Thornton (Northern New Jersey) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is excellent book covering everything one needs to know about tea. Well written, simple, understandable language. Just facts . Presentation simple and easy to follow. Twas exactly what I was looking for.
Highly recommend it as a "" basic tea textbook "" tho it covers the subject completely.
A little troublesome on the Kindle August 3, 2009 Skulleigh (DFW TX) 5 out of 11 found this review helpful
I love the text describing each tea, and it makes for wonderful reading. However, the chart with the information on each tea (such as leaf description, temperature, etc) is in image form, and as such is a little too pale for easy reading. Since it's an image, you can't bump the font size up and read that section easier. I'm disappointed in that, but I can make out the info if I take my glasses off!
