More than satisfied!!!!! July 15, 2010 Jack Appleyard (Tucson, AZ, US) I was rather suprised and delighted to receive my Earth Box much earlier than
promised. Was easy to assemble, so I got started right away..
Easy! July 15, 2010 Cyndi Maddox (indiana) Finally ordered my first earthbox after reading reviews, and am very pleased with this product. Found a video that gave a demo on how to set it up and add plants. Followed those instuctions and tada, I have a mini garden. I planted 3 different tomato plants (maybe should have tried 2 at first) because they are growing like weeds now with tons of blooms and tomatoes popping out. I add water every day to the reservoir and that is all I have had to do. No weeds or bugs to mess with at this time. I will definitely purchase 1-2 more for next year and try lettuce, cucumbers, and whatever else will go into my salads. The wheels do make it nice if you need to move it. I rigged my own staking out of 2 plastic fence posts I found at Lowes for $2 each and garden twine. It's working just fine. Started my garden a little late so no yield yet, but the way they are growing it won't be long.
earth box July 13, 2010 jane m regan (Scituate, MA, US) This item was received in great condition and in a timely manner. I have used it to plant tomatoes and peppers. The instructions were very easy to understand. My vegetables are growing at wonderful rate and I am sure that we will be enjoying the fruit very soon. I would recommend the earth box to any one with limited space.
Thankyou
Jane Regan
Earthboxes are great July 11, 2010 Alpine Skier 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
EarthBox. What can I say. These are very clever gardening units. The biggest benefit of this system, in my opinion, is the forum available to users of the Earthbox system. It is a very busy forum that is monitored by very knowledgeable people, a few of which work with/for the company and use Earthboxes themselves at home. Everybody is very helpful on that forum. It is my first year and I have muskmelons and also gooseberry growing (2 separate boxes).
There is some work setting it up, but once you have that done, there is no weed pulling and no worries about whether your plants are getting enough water - you just keep the water level full in the watering tube and the plants get just what they need. You do have to do the usual gardening stuff - monitoring for insects, plant disease, etc..., but that is what gardening is about. You can also purchase an automatic watering system for about $60 (does up to 3 boxes) if you are too busy to check the water every day or if you go away on vacation. Fertilizer goes in while setting it up and so there is no need for adding fertilizer after planting. You just trim back or trellis/stake whatever you are growing. Big plants, such as big tomato plants, can be top heavy and so you need a trellis system. It doesn't work to put trellis in the little boxes so you need to put the trellis in the ground around the base of the Earthbox, or build one that sits on the ground so that it won't topple over (there are tons of suggestions on their forum. I use mine on a deck and it is great. It is a great hobby, too.
Overkill July 3, 2010 Mark H. Furstenberg (Washington, DC USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this for my roof garden and didn't pay sufficient attention to what I was ordering. I meant to buy this as a kind of bed for eggplant. What I got was my bed and some growing screens and synthetic fertilizer (that I threw away). It's more than I wanted but it's fine.
