Works fine, but don't trust time number August 31, 2010 B. Nelson (Washington state) For the price paid, this is a fine water timer. I have purchased two of these now; I broke the first one by mistake. They are inexpensive enough that I did not feel bad about buying a replacement. It does the job, but I have noticed that the number of minutes is not exact. For my watering purposes, it does not need to be exact.
Exactly what I needed August 28, 2010 Janet Perkins Very easy to use. Has functioned perfectly with secure shut-off at specified interval. Exactly what I wanted to insure timed operation without the need to return to shut the water off. I did not need a complicated timer for repeat operation and this one does a simple job in reliable fashion without requiring a degree in electronics.
2 Hour vs 3 Hour Timer? August 3, 2010 Bert 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you care about this being a 2 hour versus 3 hour timer, be aware that you might get either one. I ordered 2 timers last year and received the 3 hour model. I ordered 2 more recently and got the 2 hour model. Has the U.S Government/EPA begun controlling water timers too? :)
Both timers carry the model number 56600. The 3 hour model has a solid black main body. The 2 hour timer just received has a dark gray body. This subtle difference is hard to distinguish in the pictures of the product.
Do not leave connected when temps drop below freezing. Do not turn the dial too far in either direction.
Wish it was made better July 20, 2010 D. Renegar I own three of the Nelson 56600 timers and all three are leakers. This is the second season for them and I do take them during the winter months to keep them from freezing. I, like many others, would gladly pay a little more to have a timer which does not leak. I am almost afraid to go off and leave it under pressure for fear it will break off as badly as it is leaking. Come on Nelson give us some quality. I am looking at replacing these with digital timers but after reading the reviews I wonder if anyone makes anything of quality anymore.
Is it possible to rate it as 0 stars? July 6, 2010 J. Hafner The first time I used it, the timer continued to "countdown" AFTER it had reached "OFF", so it turned to manual "ON". This left a soaker hose on all night for me, quite a waste of water! Guess the other reviewers were right....it's cheap for a reason! Do yourself a favor and spend the money for quality. I've learned my lesson!
